We are delighted to announce that the PMAC27 Call for Papers is now open!
Our 2027 Congress, PMAC27, will be held in Tallinn, Estonia, from 14 to 16 May 2027. We welcome proposals for 15-minute papers, for posters, panels and other conference sessions. The deadline is 1 December 2026. Please email your proposals to conference@spma.org.uk.
Read our dedicated Congress web page for details about the PMAC27 Call for Papers and other activities that you can suggest. The SPMA Congress organizing committee will arrange paper proposals into themed sessions and contact authors about the status of their submissions by 1 December 2026.
As in previous years, the Congress also has some predetermined themes that you can self-nominate your paper or poster for. The PMAC27 themes are:
- Swedish Empire: the archaeology of Stormaktstiden
- Terror and resistance
- Dangerous cultural heritage: environmental threat from archaeological sites
- On the margins: East and West
We also welcome proposals for alternative themes, symposia, fora, panels/round tables, for which you should include a list of speakers as well as an abstract.
Are you a student who would benefit from financial help to attend the Congress? You can apply to our Paul and Yolanda Courtney Congress Bursary Award. We prioritize students, first-time attendees, low-income and BAME and minority applicants to the Award. There is no age restriction. The deadline to apply is 15 January 2027.
After a day of tours and the Congress opening lecture and reception, the two-day Scientific Programme will be hosted at Tallinn University. We look forward to welcoming you!
