The Post-mediveal Archaeology Congress 2025 programme is confirmed!
We look forward to welcoming delegates to Lisbon from 10 to 13 April. We have a day of social events and workshops. The packed scientific programme takes place over two days across two venues. The National Maritime Museum and National Archaeology Museum are fascinating spaces to hold our conference. Guided tours are available on the last day.
The Congress opening lecture is by Augusto Salgado, distinguished Director of the National Maritime Museum, ‘Maritime Archaeology as Social Archaeology’. The lecture will be followed by an evening reception.
This year’s Congress will be the largest ever hosted by the Society for Post-mediveal Archaeology. Thank you to our presenters who will be sharing their research on diverse topics. Their subjects include ceramics and glass for tea, coffee and chocolate; souvenirs and relics; bricks, tableware and porcelain; shipwrecks; fortifications and imprisonment; rural and urban life; diasporic communities; street art and public space; love and loneliness; memory; and more!
