Recruitment of SPMA Secretary

We are opening recruitment of SPMA Secretary role.

The Society for Post-Medieval Archaeology is seeking a new Secretary. We invite expressions of interest from members who would like to contribute to the running and future development of the Society.

The Secretary plays a central role supporting the President, Vice-President, Treasurer, and Council. The Secretary ensures that the Society operates smoothly, transparently, and in line with its governance responsibilities. This is a valued and influential role at the heart of the Society.

The role involves administrative coordination rather than heavy workloads. There is an estimated time commitment of around 50 hours per year. That includes attendance at four Council meetings and the AGM. Key responsibilities include:

  • preparing and circulating meeting papers
  • taking minutes
  • liaising with publishers and regulatory bodies
  • supporting wider Society activities.

SPMA Secretary is an Honorary role that is not paid. Expenses incurred carrying out the role are reimbursed by the Society.
