The National Endowment for the Humanities Community Deep Mapping Institute applications for Fellowship are open.
The Deep Mapping Institute is a hybrid 12-month virtual and in person institute. It runs from January 2025 through December 2025. The in-person component will occur July 7th-18th, 2025 in Michigan’s Keweenaw Peninsula hosted by Michigan Technological University. This institute will bring together a diverse group of scholars and professionals with interests including publicly engaged heritage, archaeology, history, and geography to expand the scope and refine the practices of deep mapping.
Deep maps integrate information and representations about space, time, architecture, material culture, environment, and community knowledge into a spatially and temporally scaled digital platform affording open-ended exploration of a particular time and place.
Applicants selected to be Fellows will receive a stipend to cover airfare, lodging, subsistence, and local transportation for the two-week, in-person component of the institute.
Application Due Date is November 22, 2024. Apply at NEH Community Deep Mapping Institute.
